CLUB SLOPESTYLE CHAMPIONSHIP BIG SUCCESS!

Awards Photo #1
BV’S 4th annual Club Slopestyle Championship was the biggest and best yet. Perfect spring riding conditions and a bluebird sunny day delivered one of the best days of the season for 150 Slopestyle competitors.
Andy’s Playground Park was in great shape thanks to the work of Park Manager Caleb Bosse and his crew. Caleb created a new smaller jump and box line for the younger riders at the top of the park, and fine tuned the bigger triple jump line for the more accomplished riders. Due to the large number of entries the Club Slopestyle Championship was limited to the top half of the park for expediency. All riders got one run through the course to show off their best tricks and style, except ages 11-20 received two runs, with their best counting.

The top of the park featured a party atmosphere with picnic tables, music, and complimentary drinks and BBQ for all of the riders, their families, event volunteers and officials. It was a great fun hang-out from which to watch the event.
It was exciting to see so many young competitors this year with 55 under the age of 11, including seven girls age six and under. The largest and some of the most competitive categories were the boys age 7-8, age 9-10, age 11-12 and age 13-14.
A ton of sick tricks were thrown by the older riders including freeski standouts Cameron Keith and Elliott Lane, the latter who won best freeski hit of the day. On the snowboard side, highlights included runs by Brendan Hoffman, Jeff Horlor, Chris Fellner and his younger brother John, who won best snowboard hit of the day.
The awards on the north deck of the Clubhouse attracted one of the biggest crowds of the year. It didn’t hurt that it was an epic warm and sunny close to a great afternoon. For full results check the BV web site and the Clubhouse bulletin board.
