Park Update

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

Thanks to everyone this weekend that attended the Quiksilver King/Queen of the park series. We saw a lot of smiling faces and that is what this is all about. Thanks also to the Quiksilver Team who did guest coaching with BV snowboard athletes and judged in the Quik King/Queen of the park series. Some of the highlights of the event were Sam Koven 1 footed attacks on the dance floor and the showdown between Silas McKinnon and Chris Fellner on the Urban Bar Rail. On the Skiing side we had Dolly Lane Stomping everything and some wild 270 onto the Urban rail from Tom Birnie.  Looking forward to seeing more of this intenseness at the next Quik series on Sunday the 24th. Keep your eyes peeled for posters and updates around the clubhouse for the Quik teams next guest coach experience we welcome all boarders.

We will be adding more rails and revamping the Jump line in Andy’s Playground this week. We will be adding the Tear Drop, Battleship, 30ft shotgun and 20ft shotgun rails to Andy’s. Cat’s Meow also now has 3 new rail setups and a new step up feature.

New Park Program

This past weekend was a huge success for our Park boarding program. Our numbers are now currently up to 24 athletes and still growing. Our Intro to park group was starting to learn how to spin off of jump features already and proper rail techniques.   We have coaches to accommodate all abilities from intro to park to an advanced, competitive class. Come out and support our intermediate and advanced athletes this weekend at the AOS slopestyle event hosted at our club in Andy’s Playground. Parents that have athletes in our program please meet with Caleb for 10:30 at the North Deck just before class begins. There will be an update on our group selection open to feedback on how we have divided athletes into groups.
