Gala update - Freestyle

Sunday, February 7th, 2010

Dear Freestyle Parents,

I hope everyone’s winter has been going well. It’s nice to finally be getting some snow flying around and under our feet.

Anyway. The main reason why I am sending you all this e-mail, is to try to remind and encourage all of you to get involved with this years Gala if you haven’t yet done so.

By attending the gala and participating in the silent auction and basket raffles. We will be raising money that will be divided amongst Freestyle Skiing, Freestyle Snowboarding, Snowboard Racing, as well as Apine Racers. (Any competitive programs)

I know that in the past. People had considered the Gala to be “The Racing Gala.” But that was only because they have been such a driving force behind Beaver Valley’s competitive programs. In the past couple of years, our Freestyle program has really grown a lot and since we get an equal part of the pie when it comes to the final outcome of the Gala. It would be great to have the participation that racing has had for so many years now. Come on now…..We can’t have them make us look bad now. Haha

In fact, last season alone. $10,000 went into our terrain park. So we should really be getting as involved in this process as possible.

The Gala will be held on Saturday, February 20th and the tickets will be $60.00 each. For this amazing price you will receive a margarita to start your “Hot night in Beaver Valley.” Followed by a fantastic meal prepared for us by our very own Keith Hagedorn. We have a pair of dancers coming up from the city to start the night off with a little salsa. So come prepared and bring your dancing shoes. There will also be a live band, as well as many fantastic Silent Auctions going on, that no one will want to miss out on.

We will continue to accept donations right up until the day of the Gala. But any donations submitted before Saturday February 6th will be submitted into our night’s program. After that it will be to late for publication changes.

For more details on how you can contribute. Please contact:

Michelle Abbott – 1-647-223-1355 or michelle.abbott@sympatico.ca

Thank you very much and please help support your competitive programs.

Freestyle Update

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

Hello Everyone,

The kids are just beginning to get into the competition season and for the most part and are all looking pretty confident. We had a few kids attend a Rail Jam at Blue Mountain this weekend. As well as another group of our mogul kids will be attending Horseshoe Valley’s first mogul competition of the year next weekend.

We will be holding out fist mogul based Friday training this week at Horseshoe Valley for the bump kids. But will commence with regular Friday training at Beaver Valley for the Park and Pipe kids that will be attending next weekends Slopestyle event at Craigleith Ski Club.

This seasons Friday training was inclusive in the price of any of our High Performance programs. Unfortunately due to the commitment, cost increase, as well as ability to miss 10 Fridays worth of school. We did not receive the commitment needed to facilitate this many extra training days. So in reflection of this. We have wisely chosen 5 Fridays for training based around some of our athletes main competitions this season.

The 5 Friday training sessions will be held as follows:

Friday Jan. 29th @ Horseshoe Valley (Mogul) and Beaver Valley (Park and Pipe) Friday Feb. 5th @ Beaver Valley Friday Feb. 12th @ Beaver Valley Friday Feb. 19th @ Beaver Valley Thursday March 4th @ Mt. St. Louis

Another reminder to everyone. If you have not yet done so. It would be very much appreciated and beneficial if everyone were to sit down with their little ones and fill out their goal setting sheets and have them returned to their coaches by next weekend, or at your earliest convenience. This way we can ensure that all of our kids are on the right track and on their way to reaching their own personal goals.

Well, I hope this note finds everyone well and I look forward to hearing from you.

Please feel free to hit me up with any questions that you may have regarding Freestyle Skiing at freestyle@beavervalley.ca

I wish I could say see you on the slopes. But I’ll see you around the club house.
